Animal Welfare act 2006 image
As a dog groomer, it is my responsibility to meet your pet's needs whilst they are under my care, as per the Animal Welfare Act 2006.  I will treat your dog as one of my own.

The Animal Welfare Act 2006 makes owners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met. These include the need:
  • for a suitable environment (place to live)
  • for a suitable diet
  • to exhibit normal behavior patterns
  • to be housed with, or apart from, other animals (if applicable)
  • to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease
Anyone who is cruel to an animal, or does not provide for its welfare needs, may be banned from owning animals, fined up to £20,000 and/or sent to prison.
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 contains the general laws relating to animal welfare. It is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal. Unlike previous legislation, the Act applies to all animals on common land. The Act contains a Duty of Care to animals - this means that anyone responsible for an animal must take reasonable steps to make sure the animal’s needs are met. This means that a person has to look after an animal’s welfare as well as ensure that it does not suffer and apply to all animals.

I want to reassure my customers that during these unique times I am doing all I can to protect all my customers and myself from covid 19. due to this I am asking customers to:

  • only one person enters the salon at one time
  • Facemasks are to be worn
  • keep 2 meters apart
  • To remove your dogs collars, harness & leads and to place into the box provided
  • To keep to your appointment and pick up times
  • use hand sanitiser when needed

I will be disinfecting surfaces after each customer, this will include the door & handles ext. due to this I am asking that customers only enter the salon if you have an appointment.

Anybody self isolating, classed as vulnerable or showing any symptoms MUST NOT under any circumstances attend grooming appointment

COVID-19 GROOMING POLICY SUMMERY

Detailed Conditions under which I accept dogs for grooming

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the way in which I work and groom your dogs has changed dramatically. Whilst I will be ad hearing to the strictest guidelines to reduce the spread of the disease. It must be clearly understood that clients wishing to have their dogs groomed at this time, do so at their own risk and must agree to the terms and conditions

On arrival all clients must follow all hygiene procedures to minimise cross contamination. Only one person is permitted to enter the salon at one time, the Client is then responsible for removing all leads, collars, harness and coats (these are then to be taken with you) and the dog is to be put through the gate and closed.

I require at least 24 hours notice of cancellations failure to do so will result in a cancellation fee payable before any further appointments can be made. I can only now accept card payments, which must be paid on collection of your dog. You MUST drop off/ pick up at the stated time. Only one client is permitted in the salon at one time. Times are purposely staggered to ensure this. Any dogs arriving late may have to be rebooked and a late fee will apply to cover loss of earnings. Uncollected dogs will be charged a sitting fee as this may result in the next client having to be postponed or even cancelled.

Before the grooming procedure can begin as a precaution your dog will be misted down with a pet safe, non toxic, non irritant anti viral spray. However it must be understood that if in the unlikely event a reaction occurred, I cannot be held responsible.

Its a clients responsibility to ensure their dog is fit and healthy and must notify me of any issue prior to their appointment. Grooming sick or elderly dogs is entirely at owners risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that I cannot beheld liable for. Whilst every care an attention is given to your dog they are accepted at your own risk. My first concern is the welfare of your pet, so In the event of illness or injury a vet maybe called in, all costs in connection and carrying out their instruction shall be at owners expense.

All dogs must arrive well, and flea free. If fleas are found then you will be called and asked to collect your dog. (please read our flea procedure). They will be bathed firstly as not to contaminate other work surfaces. I will try my very best to maintain the desired style but any knotted or matted coats will will be clipped short. Dogs requiring extensive extra work may incur an extra charge.

Many thanks for your co-operation.
